Make Spirits Bright, Richmond Hill!

Richmond Hill residents and businesses can help make someone’s season a little brighter by donating to the City’s Holiday Donation Drive.

This year, we are accepting donations at one location by curbside drop-off only, with COVID-19 health and safety precautions in place. When dropping off donations, please wear a mask and maintain a distance of 6 feet from any staff member or resident you may encounter.

Date: December 1 – 15, 2020

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Location: Operations Centre, 1200 Elgin Mills Road East

We are accepting donations of non-perishable food items, gift cards and new toys (no stuffed animals, please), books, gift cards, toiletries and new clothing for children and especially teens.

All food donations will be forwarded to the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank, a local non-profit organization assisting those in need in the Richmond Hill community. This year, gift cards, toys, toiletries and clothing will be distributed to Yellow Brick House, York Hills Centre for Children, Youth and Families and the Richmond Hill Salvation Army.

On Street Parking

You cannot park on the street when the City of Richmond Hill has declared a winter event which is expected to require snow clearing. If your vehicle is parked on the road, you may receive a ticket and have to pay a fine. If your vehicle is in the way of our plows, salters or emergency vehicles, it could be towed.

Temporary Parking Permits

When a winter event is declared, temporary on-street parking permits are not valid for on-street parking. During this time, you can park at select City-owned facilities if you cannot arrange alternative off-street parking. Please ensure that the temporary parking permit is displayed clearly on your vehicle’s dash. A list of select City-owned facilities can be found at RichmondHill.ca/ParkingPermits.

*A winter event is declared when an icefall or an accumulation of snow that is likely to exceed 5cm may occur within the next 24 hours. Not all snowfalls that result in plowing warrant a winter event.
