A provincewide stay-at-home order is now in effect requiring everyone to remain at home except for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services (including getting vaccinated), for outdoor exercise or for work that cannot be done remotely. Bi-Weekly yard waste collection begins April 13

Do you know Yard waste is no longer collect on Mondays? It is now collect on your regular waste collection day. 2021-yard waste collection schedule (April 13 to October 8) Bi-weekly on garbage collection day; (October 12 to December 3 ) Weekly on your regular waste collection day. If you live in the “yellow zone” collection begins the week of April 13. If you live in the “blue zone”, it begins the week of April 20. For more information, check out the Waste Management Calendar. *Yard waste includes leaves, pinecones, fallen fruit, trees, shrub trimmings, pumpkins, clean straw and dried corn stalks. Soil, sod and grass clippings are NOT ACCEPTED.


Development proposal for a 10- storey building at Bayview and Major Mackenzie East

On April 6, more than 180 residents attended a virtual meeting to voice their opposition to build a 10-storey building on the northeast corner of Bayview and Major Mackenzie Drive East. Please join the residents and myself to voice our concerns to this proposal by signing the petition below. 2021 Street Sweeping Cleanup Program

As you may have noticed, Richmond Hill’s 2021 street sweeping cleanup program has already begun and expected to be complete by Friday, April 16 (weather permitting). During this time, please refrain from parking on any street in Richmond Hill from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Thank you for your cooperation and patience. Should you have any questions regarding the street sweeping cleanup, please contact the Public Works Operations Division at 905-884-8013. New Subdivisions: Street sweeping and flushing within areas where construction activities are still active will be scheduled and coordinated by the developers and not by Richmond Hill.

Trees provide many benefits to our community improved air quality, shade and wildlife habitat, and higher property values. You can help our canopy cover continue to grow by taking advantage of the Backyard Tree Planting Program! A partnership between Richmond Hill, York Region and LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests), this program provides local expertise to help you select and plant the right trees and shrubs for your yard. LEAF offers Full Service Backyard Tree Planting, Do-it-Yourself Tree Planting, Native Garden Kits, and shrubs at subsidized rates. Join a Collective Garden or Create a New One!

Applications are currently being accepted for collective gardens. With support from the City, these community gardens are run and maintained by a community group and/or organization and can range in size from small raised planters to large vegetable gardens.
